Why Tulsa? Why Route 66? Why Now?

At H Bar C, every decision we make is guided by heritage and purpose. For 127 years, we’ve been proud to craft Western wear that carries the spirit of authenticity, adventure, and Americana. Which is why today, we’re excited to share the story of our newest chapter: opening a store in Tulsa, Oklahoma, right on historic Route 66.

The Road that Tells America's Story
Route 66 has always been more than pavement. It’s where families traveled west searching for opportunity, where neon diners lit up the night, and where car radios carried country songs and rock ‘n’ roll to anyone chasing the horizon. John Steinbeck called it “the mother road…the road of flight” and we’ve always felt it was the road of freedom.

It’s only fitting that H Bar C, a brand built on Western craftsmanship, would find a home along this legendary stretch.

Why Tulsa?

Tulsa embodies the same spirit we’ve carried since 1897. This is a city that built itself from the ground up, from oil booms to Art Deco skyscrapers, from the resilience of Greenwood’s Black Wall Street to the twang of Western swing at Cain’s Ballroom. Tulsa is where tradition and reinvention meet.

“Tulsa is the perfect place for H Bar C,” says Rick, our CEO. “It’s a city that honors craftsmanship, culture, and community... the same values our brand has always stood for. When you walk down 11th Street [Tulsa’s stretch of Route 66], you see neon signs glowing, murals celebrating local art, and communities rallying around the Mother Road. It feels alive. And we want to be part of that energy."

A Store with Spirit
Our new Tulsa location isn’t just another storefront, it’s a piece of our modern story with history woven in. Inside, you’ll find our signature snap shirts, embroidered jackets, and authentic Western pants. Outside, you’ll see our original 1950s neon sign glowing bright.

That sign has a story of its own: once hanging in Denver (right), later housed at the Gene Autry Museum, then mounted inside our store on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, and now, after 50 years, it shines again in Tulsa, brighter than ever. When you drive or walk by, you’ll feel the connection between past and present: heritage meeting modern life, the cowboy spirit meeting Route 66 freedom.

“Western wear is more than clothing and Tulsa is more than a city,” says Anne, the designer behind our Tulsa build-out. “Tulsa gets that. This store is about bringing our craft to a community that already lives and breathes Americana.”

And at the center of it all is Jamie, our Tulsa store manager. She puts it best: “This city has such incredible energy. People here love their history, their music, and their community. I can’t wait to welcome locals and travelers into our store and show them what H Bar C is all about.”

A New Chapter on the Mother Road
For us, Tulsa isn’t just another dot on the map. It’s the place where H Bar C connects with a community that values heritage, creativity, and authenticity as much as we do. It’s where the Mother Road still carries stories and where we’re proud to start a new one.

So whether you’re a Tulsa neighbor, a road-tripper cruising Route 66, or someone who simply loves authentic Western style, we can’t wait to see you. Our doors are open. The road has led us here. And the journey is just beginning.
